FAQs & Rules
Welcome to Coastal Crush! We're glad you're a part of our clan and hope you make your home with us. Many of us have been here for, literally, years and we have a special culture. Additionally, our war record says we're pretty good - we have a system and we expect you to both add to our fun culture and respect our war system.
To ensure new members get relevant info and to prevent us typing all of this every time we welcome someone, we posted this. We don't mean to sound rule-driven, but rather to simply state how we run things. Hopefully you'll quickly see we are a group of folks that are laid-back, encouraging, friendly, and love to clash.

Please read completely.

Chat
We are a family-friendly clan and members occasionally bring their kids in. As such, profanity and inappropriate language are not welcome.
Please participate - don't just show up for war and leave; we think the fun of playing is in our community!
Peacetime
For requesting troops: You may request any specific troop, but please be aware of how often you are requesting "expensive" troops. We encourage requesting "any" or "air," etc so 1) everyone in the clan has a chance to donate and 2) so 1-2 people don't sit around simply baking high-PE troops for 1 person.
Although you may request a specific troop, level is not guaranteed. Please do not expect "max" troops for raiding. Again, just be considerate of those giving you troops.
If you want a specific troop comp for an FC, please state "...for FC" in your request. Additionally, please use these troops on multiple FCs.
Please do not donate Wall-Breakers, Healers, or Goblins unless specifically requested.
Please keep a donation ratio of 1:3 (donate 1 for every 3 you receive)
War (Regular)
Our war philosophy is no one is bigger than the team. Winning the war is more important than an individual's loot or stars. We win as a team and we lose as a team. As such, our system includes the following:
We will not put TH8 and below into wars - this makes our "spread" (TH8-TH13 too high).
All TH11s (and below) AND anyone in the bottom half of the war lineup is required to have BOTH war attacks complete in the FIRST 12 HOURS. This is our major rule and one that is strongly enforced - especially with new folks. Failure to have both attacks in can/will result in a kick. If there are no stars left by the time you are ready to attack, please check in with a Co/Leader - we may ask you to scout a base or practice your technique.
All TH12s are required to have both attacks complete in the FIRST 18 HOURS.
This will leave 6 hours for the TH13s to determine final attack strategies.
If you are ranked #1-5, please "check in" at or before the 4-hour mark to confirm strategy and that you aren't stuck at work, in a ditch, or lost your phone.
Generally speaking, a guideline for "Who should I attack?" is any base from 2 above your mirror to 2 below your mirror. For example, if you are ranked 20, please target 18-19-20-21-22. However, clan mail may indicate a different strategy that will override this range; please read and follow it.
We don't ever attack for loot. Raiding is for loot; wars are for winning. Again, if you have a question on who to attack, please ask - scouting and practice are far more valuable than looting.
FLAGGING/CALLING BASES - A TH9-10 flag is valid for 60 minutes; please flag and note the time. A TH11-12 flag is valid for 90 minutes; please flag/note the time. A TH13 flag is locked. All flags are subject to a Co override at any time.
We do not expect perfect 3-star attacks every time - you won't be kicked for trying and failing. We DO expect your best effort at a 3-star attack, though.
Keep your Opt-In/Opt-Out status current. Please Opt-Out if:
1. You will not be able to attack timely (first 12 hours, etc.)
2. Either spell factory is being upgraded
3. Any hero is being upgraded
Please be specific on what you would like in your defensive war CC; however, Co/Leaders may fill it with something else. Please ask if you have questions.
Please be specific on what you would like in your attacking war CC - say which troops, how many, and indicate your attack is "for war."
Respect those requests and only fill if you have MAX troops (remember 2 level upgrade perk).
Additionally, please only fill war CCs during prep day if you have MAX troops (with upgrade) and after a Co/Leader approval.
Lastly, just FYI, since we have to war in multiples of 5 people, we frequently will add "filler" accounts that will not war. We do this so we don't have to sit someone who wants to participate. Please don't freak out when you see low accounts that have not attacked and/or you get asked to clean up a low base. You'll see the pattern soon. Similarly, if you are a low account and opted out, we may override you and opt you in to "make numbers." If that occurs, you are welcome to attack (not for loot), but you are not expected to.
War Search
War searches begin around 7:30pm Central (US) time on: Sunday/Tuesday/Friday nights. That means war starts around 7:00pm (Central) on Monday/Weds/Saturday nights.
We usually take a breather on Thursday nights to rest our troops, sharpen our swords, and recharge our wizards...but depending on CWL or late searches, our days might get wonky. Keep your opt-in/out current.
Clan War Leagues
We will participate in CWL each season.
We will set the "Available Roster" with the accounts of everyone ranked Elder & above. Members will be asked to be a spectator for a season. We do this to prevent mooching CWL rewards and typically a month is long enough to determine if you are a long-term fit (Elder) with us.
All other accounts will be welcome to transfer over to our CWL-only clan ("Quick! Hide!") so more people can get CWL experience. This other clan will only be for CWL leagues and will not be active otherwise. Go there, do CWL, come back. It will be run by alts of Co-Leaders.
To be eligible to be included on the "Active Lineup" you must have a current opt-in war status (meet all the criteria from Regular War section above) and have Discord (to be pinged as needed and discuss base assignments).
We will set the Active Lineup AT CRUSH as follows:
Out of everyone eligible and opted-in on the roster, the highest 15 ranked (by TH war ranking) will be put in the Active Lineup. Simply put, we will bring the best available lineup each day.
PLEASE NOTE: This means that TH9s-TH12s are unlikely to participate in the main clan CWLs. Again, please visit the secondary CWL clan for participation. We believe this will benefit the clan to encourage upgrading to at least a minimum of TH11 and narrow our TH range for regular wars. Lastly, by specifically identifying a week out of the month this can be a targeted week of hero upgrades; therefore you can be more active in regular wars and we can enjoy larger wars as a clan.
As each CWL season winds down, if it is apparent we are not fighting for promotion nor relegation, we may rotate through "bench players" so lower ranked town halls can get experience, but this may be uncommon.
Lastly, the Co's reserve the right to give someone a break who otherwise would qualify for the Active Lineup but is otherwise struggling (due to a new TH learning curve, etc.). Let's remember to put the clan above our egos.
Clan Games
We expect to max Clan Games every games. We do not have a minimum participation expectation other than everyone will do what's needed to reach the max tier.
That said, we do ask each person to complete at least one challenge per day to ensure no one is consistently freeloading.
Elder/Co-Leaders
Please do not ask for promotions. It's awkward for everyone when Co/Leaders may say "no." Never fear, we're always considering.
Elder promotions are given after a good period of time (sometimes weeks, sometimes months). Consistent participation in war, in chat, and with donations will help this. Generally speaking, when it becomes apparent that this is "home" for you, an Elder promotion usually follows soon after.
Co-Leader promotions are extremely rare. We are a clan that has active leadership and do not want "too many cooks in the kitchen." Generally speaking, an Elder will assume a natural leadership position in the clan and the Elder will be "leading" before the promotion occurs.
Upgrading your Village
We don't accept "rushed" bases (see below) and we do not encourage upgrading your TH level until your current TH level is maxed (defenses and troops).
Put another way, if you are reading this and getting ready to apply: if you are a TH10 with heroes less than 30/30, you will not be accepted. Please bookmark us and come back when your heroes are on par with your TH level.
We strongly encourage you to minimally follow the following upgrade pattern (assuming normal, sane progression with troops and other defenses are maxed):
Heroes at 15/15 = Build Level 1 X-Bows
Heroes at 20/20 = Build Level 2 X-Bows
Heroes at 25/25 = Build Level 3 X-Bows
Heroes at 30/30 = Upgrade to TH10
Heroes at 30/30 = Build/upgrade 3rd X-Bow
Heroes at 35/35 = Build Inferno Towers
Heroes at 40/40 = Upgrade to TH11
Heroes at 50/50/20 = Upgrade to TH12
Accepting/Kicking
We generally accept TH10-TH13s who speak English.
On rare occasions, we will accept a TH9 or lower (but we will not place in war).
We do not accept "rushed" bases. On rare occasions, a Co/Leader may make an exception, but a rusher will not be placed in war until their village/heroes catch up (we don't want to penalize the entire clan for one person's high war weight).
Please allow a Co/Leader to make the decision on accepting a TH13 - we will ask that all incoming clan members fit into the above hero/troop/defense progression.
We rarely accept players from time zones UTC3-7 (Middle East/India/Philippines/Indonesia). We are not racist jerks, but in our years of experience, these time zones do not work out with our war timing. However, if war attacks are consistently made according to schedule, we're happy to welcome you here, provided there is a good cultural/chat fit as well.
If a player is accepted that a Co/Leader determines does not fit in our criteria, that player may be kicked from the clan - usually with a friendly explanation.
Please do not kick any player - leave that to a Co/Leader (unless something is egregious).
Again, welcome. To ensure you read this, please jump back into chat and say the following:
"Cowabunga dudes!"
Make sure a Co/Leader sees this and acknowledges it. This is what we mean by "read the website and provide feedback" - state the above sentence as your feedback. Literally go back into the game chat and type that sentence. You will be kept in the clan only if you say that sentence - that way we ensure you have read and understand our expectations. Also, if you jump back into chat and don't say that phrase and instead say something like "cool, I read it!" or "nice site, bro," we're going to mock you and show you the door. So kind of important that you say it. Cool? Cool. Again, welcome - we're glad to have you!

PS - Remember that 12 hour rule in war? We're really serious about it.

PPS - We're for real about saying that phrase. Go to chat and type it.

We encourage you to join our discord server - that allows us to use graphics to discuss war attacks, direct message other clanmates, and "ping" people if we need your attention. Members are encouraged to join; elders and above are required.
